2013 Knights Bridge Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Coming on the heels of the revered 2012 vintage, the 2013 vintage is a strong successor. A warm dry spring led to an early bud-break and was followed by consistent, moderate temperatures throughout the growing season. With only one short heat spike mid-summer, our vines enjoyed near ideal conditions of warm days and cool nights, leading to lush, balanced fruit.
The 2013 vintage was harvested during the very early morning hours of October 4th. Arriving at the winery cold, the clusters were de-stemmed into stainless steel tanks and cold soaked for 24 hours before natural fermentation began. After two weeks of fermentation, the wine was pressed and then aged in 85% new French oak barrels, using a combination of Taransaud, Ermitage and Darnajou cooperage. The wine aged for 22 months in barrel and, once bottled, benefitted from another 15 months in our cellar.
